Since the announcement that the company was working on a remake to Resident Evil 2, Capcom has remained relatively silent about its work on the title. That all changed at Sony’s E3 2018 press conference, as we were greeted with our first look at the game.
It started out with a curious perspective as you see through first-person from unusual angles, as if you’re a tiny creature. From there, you see a person attacked by a zombie, only for Leon Kennedy to shoot the enemy in the head.
From there, we see a few other shots from around Raccoon City that give us a basic idea of what everything will look like. Unfortunately, there was no proper gameplay footage, but after having so little idea of what to expect from the project, it was still exciting to see anything at all.
Alongside the brief trailer, Capcom confirmed a release date of January 25, 2019 and the fact that it’s simply titled Resident Evil 2. Pre-orders are available now.
Capcom created an HD remaster for Resident Evil as well, and the game went on to break Capcom sale’s records. Resident Evil HD Remaster was the fastest-selling digital title in Capcom’s history across both North America and Europe. Perhaps Resident Evil 2 Remaster will turn out to be the game to break that record.
